What Is Cubic Weight?

 

Also known as volumetric weight or dimensional weight, cubic weight is a pricing method used in commercial freight transport. It calculates an estimated weight based on the dimensions of a package—its length, width, and height.

 

How It Works:

Shipping fees are determined by comparing the:

• Dimensional weight (calculated from the package’s volume)

• Actual weight of the package

 

The higher of the two weights is used to determine the shipping cost.
